Keep Your Tickets Safe!

Once you receive your Shinkansen tickets, store them in a secure place. You’ll need the original tickets for exchanges or refunds. To reissue tickets or request a refund, visit a ticket counter (“Window”) at a JR station with your original tickets in hand.

  • Reserved Seat Tickets (Limited Express, Green Car, etc.):

    • These tickets are only valid for the specific train departure time listed. If you miss your train, no refunds are available. However, you can use a reserved seat ticket to take a non-reserved seat in an Ordinary Car on a later train on the same day.

  • Missed Your Reserved Seat?

    • If you board a later train and sit in a reserved seat, you’ll need to pay the full Limited Express reserved seat fee again.
