シカゴから30分ほどのところに広がるコグヒルカントリークラブ。色々なトーナメントが行われているパブリックゴルフコースです。特に#4は有名で通称ダブストレッド(ゴルファーが恐れるコース?)はゴルフマガジン誌の全米トップ100のコースの中にもランキングしている名コース。

コグヒルゴルフ&カントリークラブの歴史は長く1927年にまだゴルフがこの地域であまり知られていなかったころ「ゴルフは楽しそうで簡単そうでおもしろそうだ」という3人の兄弟が1926年から27年にかけて丘を切り開き人力と馬の力でシャベルなどを使って作った手作業を基にした。ゴルフ場#1コースが1927年7月4日のウイークエンドにオープンした後1929年に#2コースもオープン。その後豪華なクラブハウスも立てられグランドピアノや暖炉が設置され14室のゲストルームも作られて優雅な週末を過ごす社交場として知られ今では現地の大切な施設になっています。なんと昔からゴルフのプレーを楽しむことができるようにするために大人たちができるようになんと託児所やメイドを雇うことが出来遊園地などの子供のための施設もゴルフ場内に作られている。1963年にディック・ウイルソンが#3コースをデザインし#4コースは、ナショナル・チャンピオンシップやPGAツアーをホストするのにふさわしいコースを設計者のディック・ウイルソンが亡くなった為そのあとをついでジョー・リーが後を引き継いでついにオープンさせた。

#4はダブストレッドというあだ名がつけられ挑戦的なコースが親しまれている。

4コースある林間コースの中でこのNO.4コースが一番良くコースは長く、バンカーも深く、戦略的に配されているためとてもタフな上級者コース。ほとんどのグリーンは砲台で、グリーンのアンジュレーションは強い。PGAトーナメント、BMW Championshipが2007年と2009年から2011年まで開催された。

Grand Geneva Resort
